Cheer up, WTF is wrong with you?

Devoid of any empathy

they cut down the hanging man

Rejoicing in their righteousness

as only the righteous can

“Be happy and be carefree

be jolly just because”

Then “whoops” came their apocalypse

now they’re miserable like us

You see it isn’t just the magnitude

of events that bring’s you low

It’s the way that we disperse them

and the routes they take to go

So next time when with passing shrug

you say “just sort it out”

maybe pause a moment

to speak instead of shout

Thanks Taylor, Martin and Stu.

I've been taking a break and doing some work for a few days, good for the soul apparently.

Hope to be scribbling again soon.

Thanks again,

David.

Those opening words are for me fantastic. A wonderful poem in its examination of human moods.

I liked the poem very much..and also your later addition to it.
I agree wholeheartedly that we should not compare or dismiss others woes.
We do not know what is behind their actions we do not know their circumstances. It is difficult but if we can look beyond our own problems we can perhaps become more empathetic, less judgemental. Thank you

Thanks DJB, Jon and Don (welcome)

I don't want to get into this too deep (relief all around I sense) just to say, we should not measure peoples moods either joyful or depressive against the actions which make them so, to do so may in fact be irrational when we consider how individual we all are.

It worries me when people dismiss the woes of others as trivial in comparison to their own or even those of third parties (I too am guilty of this, I try to check myself)

People experience trauma and depression due to a plethora of happenings, none of which are insignificant to them.

Another set of brilliant words and great recital.

Not sure if I have got this one, but if I have then I applaud it, and if I haven't - well I still applaud it as it sounds good and reads better!

Cheers

DJB
