The courtship poems 19

Brown boat

Pelicans flee
towards the
horizons
retreating
light,

like ten disciples
to this
nights
final cause.

three stars
in alignment
pillar the sky
over me,

and a summer

wind carries me
home to you,

and a wish
that you
are safe
and warm.
and I

might wake

tomorrow
in your

eyes.

forever

at peace

and held in

joy with love,

and a promise

you will

always

be mine.
