Cyclone Love

Cyclone Love

Welcome or not,

uninvited you came

to have your way.

Clearing a path

for your arrival,

making sure all

knew you intended

to make an impression

- one not easily forgotten.

Lucinda doesn’t

want to meet Yasi.

She knows he will

strip her naked

knock her down flat

suck all her power

then drown her in his wake.

In a rush, love arrives,

like the Fitzroy River
floods break heart banks,

threatening to change lives.

Obstacles float on the tide

devouring resistance.

Useless to turn away but

like nine pins, fall prey
to the relentless flow.

In the sudden silence

after the flood recedes,

find solid ground to stand

among the sodden slush

marked by tidal scars...

Dreams lie forgotten

like broken branches.

Thank you, Hazel - hope you had your Wellies on! 😃

And you too, Martin, thanks for your consideration and comment. Much appreciated.

G'day David, thanks for the 'like'. Not surprised you took the time to wade through this one - I know you possess a romantic soul!

this is awash with good stuff, but I particularly liked tidal scars.

Very clever this one Frances and a jolly fine piece of poetry. some lovely use of words here as picked up by Hazel.
I love the way you have finished it off with

'Dreams lie forgotten
like broken branches'

Woah! Loved standing in sodden slush marked by tidal scars - but loved it all really. How to bring energy and movement into a poem - yes.
