RESTORATIONAL REQUIEM FOR MY FATHER

Regardless of shape or size

each bodily replacement

cut and manipulated to fit

where the previous same

succumbed to the elements;

victimised by outside forces.

This automotive vintage child

born to the Father of motoring's great age

despite its wounds

still able to beg for the road.

Each renewed part a twinned reincarnation

even down to the tiniest of components

necessarily aiding the cause of rejuvenation.

All these stitches in time;

His weldings.

His endless phone calls.

His passionate attendance to detail.

His never giving up.

His mechanical wizardry.

His tried and tested bouts of patience.

His unshakeable pride.

Every one a team member in the game of worthy reimbursement.

Perfected payback for the decades of reliable transportation given.

A once rusting dishevelled ghost

proudly bypassing and both beloved driver and car

cocking-a-gleaming snoot

at the jaw dropped gates of the breakers yard!

and boy do I know how much patience is needed! If I had a quid for every time I went crawling under broken down cars
with a ratchet, or pulled dent's out ( Patricia! ) I'd be a rich man.

A really lovely and so well deserved dedication to your Pa Jems.
