unfocused

last second hitting of the brakes

prevents multiple cow deaths

blame for which would have rested

fairly and squarely on my inattentive

and bloodied shoulders to be

and also for my unawareness of a hairpin bend

not to mention too heavy a foot on the accelerator.

In regaining composure shaking stopped

and the loud blurted  F*****G  H**L! shock exclamation swallowed

I settle down to watch the black and white bovine flash flood

having their right-hand field exchanged

for their milking shed left

some skating in their own dish-shaped excreta

as the not too happy with my stupidity

scowling faced farmer

shaking his much weather-beaten head

in my direction

guides them across the now slurried tarmac

in the same manner but understandably not

with the same loving patience Noah had

bringing in the two by twos of every kind

into the Arks safety.

thanks muchly guys. I wonder if cattle should have their own zebra crossings or would that be considered too confusing and overruled by the EU?

after all their regulations are always politically correct
(like-oh yeah!)

Hey Leon
Much to enjoy in this. I liked the tension of the first stanza and the humourous last stanza with the Noah's ark comparisons. A great poem
