Mister Twister

he came

invading her garden of innocence

to plant his seeds of cruelty

his severe intentions masked

moved in

with heavy luggage of rules

pouring false promises

into the lap of  her believability

wolfishly feeding

on the naive kindness of her heart

dragging her confidence out

by the roots

her love was being dismantled

she was drowning

in the sea of his mastery

his demands

dulling and reducing her

into becoming a timid tethered creature

cried out by despair

she had to rise

above the mounting dread

to straighten up against the onslaught

of his storms

to tear down the confining walls

of his possessiveness

take control of her own words

keep her fraying nerves intact

until courage shone through

and liberated her whole being

and allow the happy ghost

of her former self

to unlock the chains

finally enabling her

for the first time in a long time

to hear the sound of her own laughter

then she could breathe

in the weightless air

and smile without needing permission

while listening to

peace and silence returning

to sing their beautiful songs again

◄ always the same number of chairs (for all those in admin and all those who have supported me in 2017)

surely not till the thin lady sings? ►

I'm hoping that you were a late 'liker' Desmond and that I hadn't overlooked your name earlier if you know what I mean.

If I did then you most certainly have my apology

and I thank you anyway.
