Poet's Retreat (1)

What drew my eye

was the scant advertisement,

Poet’s Retreat available

on a route du vin,

followed by a telephone number.

On arrival amidst the vines,

a coverlet of green corduroy,

I was surprised to see

you lived on your own,

in such a sprawling cottage,

apprehension and relief

balanced precariously on your brow,

a weighed smile that whispered welcome

this reads like a synopsis for a novel Graham, a bit like the blurb on the back of a dust jacket. Ever thought of going the whole magnum and using all that knowledge to produce a love amongst the vines novel? Maybe set in a poet's retreat in Tuscany? Has to be a winner! Cheers! Col.
