Man with a Hat
I catch my breath,
He looks like someone I once knew,
Man with a Hat,
sitting on the ground,
asking for coins and bits of bread,
Let it not be you I think,
I mutter to myself,
I toss him a coin,
Man with a Hat,
he smiles,
God bless yer,
Ma'am,
He says,
I breathe a sigh of relief,
That it is not you,
But some other poor soul,
Fallen on hard times,
I send a blessing,
Up into the night air,
So only the angels can ♥ hear.
