Catch a Star

Catch a Star and put it in your pocket,

or let it fall on the floor for an eternity,

Just at that moment before you fall asleep,

I want you to think of me,

Only of me.

As the rose petals fall from the vase to the ground.

Remember there is no coincidence with people like us,

and as you sweep the past away and hope that the walls you have built to protect you,

Stay strong,

Maybe just a glimmer of me gets through.

Between the night and the day and into the smoke filled recesses of temptation,

And however much you try to convince yourself that you are safe,

Existing without living,

Breathing without feeling.

One day it will all catch up with you.

And all those loves from the past who cried out in vain to deaf ears,

Will have their revenge

But not me.

As I slowly turn from the open door,

I can see you watching me,

Ready to be one of those voices.

Telling me not to be me.

Telling me to conform.

Your lies become a reality.

Touch them for long enough and they may speak for themselves.

Brush away the shadows and stand in your light my love and only your light

Forever free.

As I hold you for an eternity.
