Reflecting on an equinox

The earth in dark and light,

is constant in its place

planetary forces theorised upon,

some credited fact

some given none.

Yet we turn and fall

expectations pass,

this year unfolds

just as the last.

The balance of our own existence

cradled in her grace,

I wonder why she tolerates

our tiny Human Race.

Thanks Stu,

a question never to be answered I suspect.

a nice subtle turn in the last lines tinge the poem with realism and darkness. lovely stuff. i often wonder why as well...
