In the forest of future words

entry picture

In the forest of future words

branches expand ever upward,

competing to tear the skies rich belly.

From where a pour of inspiration falls,

to drench the woodlands dreamy ramblers.

Then on the forest floor,

in the sodden earth of hope,

wormy crawling.

Evolving thought embeds itself,

seeking seed.

By chance to couple some dormant gift

and sprout the chute that offers life.

Where ancient bark is stripped from trunk

to lie beneath what it once was,

and slowly sink back to the mulch.

Its only purpose, to rise again and fill the empty sky,

reaching as before.

as if to answer, why?

This cycle of events uncoils,

un-thought.

Absent of conscious reasoning,

it has no known agenda,

no predictive text.

The forest of future words,

is mankind’s sheltered womb.

From which all else is born,

and to which

all will return.

regeneration.Thought

I'm right there with you Wolfie, anything to do with woods and trees and as already said you have made a brilliant job of it. Fantastic

Thanks Jim and Ray,

Nature is a good fall back when life seems unbalanced, I like the fact that nature finds equilibrium seemingly unaided. It gives me hope.

That, and recently re-exposing myself to the fine poetry and songwriting of Bob Dylan, strangely Polly Harvey has had a very positive impact on me recently.

Sitting here on my dusty bed listening to the joyous "Brownsville girl" well, it just bloody well fills me up.

Thanks All xxx

There's something reassuring in nature's cycle, which you have conveyed beautifully.

I have read this a few times and enjoy it more and more on each visit. Thanks for sharing it.

A glorious affirmation of recycling in nature and an antedote to the death of aspiration embedded in the concrete dream as we have seen. Gardens have been the salvation of many a poor soul. Don't mention the fungus !

Thanks Vicki and Stu,

so pleased you liked it.

I've been trying to get this out of my head for a while now and I enjoyed the exorcism.

I live in hope that one day someone will come along with a formula of words which will astound us all, and change our lives.

We live in hope.

Thanks again.

wolfie
this is sublime!
im reading it and pictures are forming that i havent had in my head before. what a wonderful poem.
the idea of words being the world is not new, but its handled really well here. i love it. i have a steaming rainforest in my head, constantly churning and spewing out words and sentences, then those words being misunderstood and falling back down to be recycled.
its a great image.
its great.
