Drinking again? maybee

I was at a party don’t you know?

Bottles everywhere, booze was in full flow.

Coke in hand, want to play it safe.

Work in the morning, not staying out late.

A glass of wine then caught my eye, and with a cheeky wink said give me a try.

Vodka was in the corner Cossack dancing trying to impress the lemonade.

Jack Daniels had already pulled, the ice cubes melted at his fiery touch.

The cider eager to impress was leering lewdly at my breasts.

Don’t you know imp apple made? Good for you, one of your 5 a day.

Malibu was on good form, talking to 2 men in suits about his Caribbean roots.

Whisky was staggering about, above the music you could hear him shout happy Hogmanay, even though it was only the 8th of May.

Dubonet red was all alone on the stair, softly crying, deeply sighing.

Gin and tonic have had a row, not mixing with each other now.

Guinness was doing an Irish jig, splashing people with foam, doesn’t give a fig.

Was I seeing what was right?

Was I seeing what was true?

This is what booze can do to you.

At the time it may all seem like fun

Rots your insides, makes your brain start to run.

Take my advice, heed my warning, and lay off the drink.

Don’t wake up with a hangover tomorrow morning.

Viki I love this poem and the personification of drink was a brilliant idea to symbolise getting drunk.
Can I come to the next party they must be excellent!

Hi Vicky

As you know I liked this one, very cleverly worked - love these lines -

Malibu was on good form, talking to 2 men in suits about his Caribbean roots.

Whisky was staggering about, above the music you could hear him shout happy Hogmanay, even though it was only the 8th of May.

Time you put some more out! Jeff X
