Sketching and Zeppelins

To save on juice

I’m walking the three miles

Into town.

My books are going back

A week early

And for me

This is miraculous.

Tanya and Marie

Are just passing

As I drop the latch

We all flash our teeth

They share a house down

One of the terraces

And are known

Prostitutes

The police visit

As often as anybody

Four legs

Two arses

And a whole chunk

Of trouble

I stay well clear

Under my arm

There are -

Autobiographies

Edible fungi

Roman glass

And the latest

Record collectors price

Guide

A heavy lot

Double-bagged

With Sainsbury’s

The library’s good detox

For me

Christine in local history

Is an old school friend

A few years ago

She was awarded a CBE

For her championing

Of the disadvantaged

I wiggled a couple

Inside of her once

When we were fourteen

Whenever we catch eyes

She pretends she

Doesn’t know me

I don’t push it

On the third floor

There’s an inexpensive cafe

Doing good coffee

And that’s where I’m going

Soon as I’ve found

Sketching for beginners

And anything

On Zeppelins.

Ha ha I take Steve's point- maybe a Larkin as played in the style of The Long Goodbye (1973) — with Elliott Gould.
