'My Haweswater Poem' ....

entry picture

As I ventured up the lakes I felt the calmness and my busy world fade away...

As I set off on my mountain trek the stoney paths lead my way....

The grey mysterious sky turned blue,

the mountains became clear and in full view....

Up, up, away I go the blue skies turned to snow....

'High Street' looked picturesque as the snow lay on its chest...

I looked back at 'Rough Crag' with a view of 'Haweswater' at the back...

The further I go the colder it got,

the view was amazing as I tool my shot...

Up and over in the wind and snow to see 'High Raise' before me as I go....

The rock to my right called 'Kidsty Pike' pleasing to the eye as I hike....

Down I go towards the end,

'Haweswater' I see at my walk descend....

The sunset rest's on the mountain side,

my memories I keep as my pride.....

Great! Enjoyed this Lesley. I'm a keen hillwalker and it summoned it all up. High Street is a particular favourite, even though I broke my ankle on it (long story!)

In years past, I've walked through the Lake
District, Wales, and coast to coast across Scotland (twice) and these lines conjure up the
feelings of delight and accomplishment felt in
being out in the wild and high places. Like a
swig from a mountain stream above the tree line
- most refreshing!

A lovely flow to this piece Lesley. I like the tranquility within your words. The lakes are full inspiration and this piece shows it.
