the end of the past

sitting there

bathing in the golden sun

was a delight

for a magic hour or so

whilst the day eased itself into twilight

he’d never noticed the green bronze words

on the plaque

on the bench

on which he sat

every Sun-day

“In loving memory of Audrey,

 - a favoured spot”

her start date and expiry

on show for all the world to see.

Like this one but a little unsure of the "He'd never notice" as it set me looking in poem or the title to find out who he was.

Brilliantly simple, sensitive and stimulating - those constant little miracles of enjoining lives - clearly visible to all who 'see'- metaphorically and spiritually.

This is very sweet and lovely.
It reminds me of one I saw that has always made an impression,
(can't remember her name though!) 'You rocked our world'
