Wishing For Rain

Now with added audio (felt better read).

Wishing For Rain

She spent that week,

Wishing for rain.

Every morning that

Same,

Brown,

Grass,

Reaching towards her.

But a dry week

Of flat-packs

And quick pick-me-ups

From a garden sale,

Hid the hate.

An attempt to resuscitate

The happy days of swing

Seats, and the apple trees

That she

Lost,

Last,

Winter.

Unclosed windows,

Stale bread sitting

In the cupboard, forgetting

To dust the shelves.

Then a trip to the store

The same

Trolley,

Bother,

Bore.

Another morning

By the grass,

With a pot of tea.

Hanging out the washing

Whilst wishing for rain,

To wash

Away,

Screaming Earth’s,

Decay.

The audio brought the punctuation to life, with the pauses and half-pauses. A very engaging aural texture as the words jumped off the page one after the other. I love the undertone of meanings and the possible layers inviting the mind to unveil. Thanks for sharing.
