The Heart Wants

The heart wants

But there's nothing I can allow it to do

Thoughts; lie askew

From the "lover" in view

The scent of this new rose

Induces an obsession

With a ruthless aggression

The wanting

Knows no end

All I can think of is her

And the longing

But my obligations

Demonstrate an authority

Grounds me from air

I'll suffocate

On responsibility

Before I fulfill a dream

It's saddening

Particularly when no one can relate

As peace of mind degrades

Whats justifiable

Turns a different shade

And this new hue

Knows no emotion

Filled by the bitterness

I become a lifeless ocean

With waves

A swift resistance

To my affair

With the moonlight
