Hair is here

Hair is there

Hair is dark

Hair is fair

Hair is wavy

Hair is straight

Hair is curly

Hair is great

Hair is long

Hair is short

Hair is longed for

By the bald

Hair is strung

Hair is plaited

Hair is clean

Hair is matted

Hair is thick

Hair is thin

Hair is slick

With gel in

Hair of sheep

And camel

For helping you keep

Warm and well

Hair in clothes

Hair under

Hair never goes

Where it oughta

Hair is sprayed

Hair is brushed

Locks of dread

Too much bush

Hair is shaved

Hair is clipped

Hair is saved

In Auschwitz

Hair is swept

Hair is burned

Hair is kept

For us to learn

Hair can last

In the tomb

When we’ve been gone

For many a moon

Well, it was either a bludgeon with a curmudgeon, or a hurly-burly with a curly-wurly...

<Deleted User> (7212)

Thu 13th Jan 2011 22:22

I was once beat around the head with a curmudgeon...
...or was it a curlywurly??

Yes Ann - we'll have a Tom Tom Club AND Slade-themed party, and Banksy will be denied entrance for being a curmudgeon!

Oh yes, My Friend Stan, I like that TOOO! We'll have a party and we won't invite Banksy! ;-)

Nowt wrong with Slade or Sweet, certainly. Listen to 'My Friend Stan' for instance - and what about Hell Raiser by Sweet for a forgotten classic. Bl00dy marvellous.

Nothing wrong with Slade or Sweet...try me on them...I remember trying to do my Sunday morning paper round with a broken nose, following a bust up at the Silver Blades (Sheffield) to the soundtrack of Ballroom Blitz....

'And the man at the back said....'

Ann - you might be better with Mr Right-now !!

<Deleted User> (7212)

Wed 12th Jan 2011 21:25

Mr Byrne's dull ditties !!!
Choose your effin weapon Mr Ant.
It'll be sanitary towels at Dawn methinks (thwack-thwack).
And yes, I defer to Mr Aikman as well, then... you're obviously a very well-versed & erudite lot on WOL - not like me council-house mates raised on a diet of Slade & Sweet.
I kneel & bow my head. (swish of cape)

It's certainly true that without Tina, Mr Byrne's dull ditties would have remained on the road to nowhere.

Banksy, don't date yourself (or be so presumptious) there are those of us who first saw Talking heads in the 70's and have always worshipped at the altar of Tina.

I'm the only person I know of who knows who the Tom Tom Club is/was - so there's 2 of us then?

You cheeky dog Aikman. Maybe if YOU wrote a poem about downstairs hair, it might end up being erotic - now there's a thought...

This is definitely a cut above the usual.

PS. Ignore Isobel, no-one could do a good poem about 'donwnstairs hair'...surely?

Great recording and lovely to hear something someone has taken effort over - I imagine this would perform well cos it is light hearted and fun.

How about 'hair today and gone tomorrow' 'hair brain' 'hair of the dog...' and then there is the downstairs hair...

Yes - I'm sure you could make a series out of these!

Thanks Andy and Janet! It's good to know there are still some of us who can play a mean comb!

<Deleted User> (7164)

Mon 10th Jan 2011 14:41

ha ha...interesting sound track you got going there Antonionioni :-)
it reminded me of the days when we used to cover the comb teeth with newspaper and play the comb. My lips are itchy just thinking about it.
Enjoyed listening..not too sure about verse 6, it seems a bit off key but on the whole, it is a very fun piece which is all part of enjoying the performance poetry scene.x

I was a fan, Ann - altho I didn't like everything they did. I remember they played the album really loud at a New Order gig while waiting for the headliners to come on and it sounded great.

Damn - I didn't think of dyeing, Philippos. I feel a part two coming on. Or should I say, parting two?

Hi Antonionio - interesting this - what about grey hair and being able to dye it - we don't hear too much about perms these days - but you got my interest going with your words and I'm sure you'll have others thinking too - well done
