Dark and Mystic Waters

entry picture

Fire frosted sting and tingle

Stars alight in the twinkling of her eye

Comes she softly then upon a feathering dawn

Blinking into the risen edge of day

A chilling kiss before the first birdsong

Before the jangle tangle of the wetlands

Before bejewelled webs spirit curling mists

Before dark and mystic waters

Where she waits within rush reed banks of dream

Calling out my name in her ethereal sleep

Calling out my name

Calling out

Magic and mystical... and bewitchingly chilling.

I like the feeling of this, the aura; not sure if I'm wafting through a sex metaphor or not. I especially like 'Where she waits in rush reed banks of dream'. Are you writing from a man's point of view, or are you a fay obeying a Druid mistress?

This is a lovely poem A. Nice that you still post. I had a go at some more erotic offerings myself (remembering our 'spat' of 2009)I'd love your critique of them. I mean that most sincerely.

Anyway, thank you for the lyrical sensuousness of Dark Waters.

Lyrically rich. As a slightly obsessive Dylanologist I appreciated this line in particular - "before the jangle tangle of the wetlands" - which made me think of both Mr Tambourine Man and Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.

Nice feeling to this Augusta - stirs the imagination of the kind we get hot-flushed about when we brush with nature
