For the spaces in my heart

Where you dwelt

I will hollow out my pain

For the love you gave and took

I will bleed my soul

Until dry it aches no more

For the lust that shone

In your eyes

I will tremble and burn

For the memory of raging desire

I doubt I'll ever again feel

I will be denied sleep

For the lonely hours I choose

I will in exile hide

Romance abandoned

For the decision to leave

I will reconcile

Search for the lessons and be thankful

For the image of you

Newly developed

I will not weep

For the memories I keep

I will be reminded

Of what's possible

For the future

I will hope.

Nicely put, to the point and philosophical

Hi Petrova - to me this means the ghost of romance lost which still comes back to bite - just posted something of a similar genre called The Haunting - enjoyed yours very much all stanzas and especially the first

Thanks again Stella for sharing your insight. I find it interesting to know what a piece induces in someone, as writers we know what a piece is about, well hopefully (wry smile) and what we intend can sometimes be very different to what is received by other eyes/ears.

well for me on a personal level it feels of a place, a time of good and bad and of the renewing of self..whether this is right or not I have no idea, it could as easily be the city speaking to an artist or musician, poet..it could be much to many I think..a little ambiguity is good..I use that in my own writes..hope this helps x
