When.

A postman came today

In spite of slippery

Streets - I found it strange

When everyone was dressed

Up for the freeze he wore

Baggy shorts alfresco from

The ankles to his knees

A scene for Christmas cards

This snow and arctic booted

People pass with scarves

Wrapped snugly round their

Necks and topped with

Woollen hats

A lonely blackbird launches

From the leaf-shorn tree as

Kids exhort with glee at

Sainsburys where shoppers

Stake assertively their claims

To dwindling food supplies

Outside the Homebase store

Half a score of Choristers

Sing sentimental

Hymns pointing to collection

Tins a gathering of alms and I

With chagrin now remember

When I sang a gladsome

Christmas sing-along

◄ Daft Festive Dog.

Timewise. ►
