and Miss had a tear

rolling down her cheek.


she had something to tell them

about Robert

across the hall

from class 4C


they’d only been looking

for shells on the beach

and it transpired

that Robert had found one.

E.Dowd - great story.
as a kid I once found a complete stick of dynamite in my grandma's coal bunker in amongst the coal (I'm not kidding). The coal board eventually came & took it away, but they didn't seem to be in any hurry. Hmph - wish I'd kept it now !

I went looking for shells one day beneath seaside cliffs-did,nt find one,but I did come across an old banger-mine-that I had pushed over the top for the insurance money-it was at that point I remembered I had left a snicker in the glove compartment-oh lucky me! this very good poem indeed could have two faces Mr B-either one very acceptable-ta Squire.

Mmmm very sad, quality minimalist piece of writing.

It contains a truism; children even at a young age can ascertain certain things without anything being directly spoken.

The language is deliberately simple, the way a child would understand and see such an event.

Yet all about the implied final line.
