Off The Verge.

White trader's truck

Ginglymus lowered

Stained scarlet with

African dust parked

Off road under the

Tilting Seringa

This throat dry

Afternoon I draw

Into the lay‑by

Surrender my Rand

To a red neck

Boer who nods

To the African

Ellipse shaped pods

Severed from stems

Thick‑crusted stacked

On brick hard ground

Olive and lime stripes

Pinkly succulent

Thirst quenching

Hi-juice interiors

Wiping my purchase

With grimy fingers

The hireling

Lets me gnaw

On thoughts of

Chilled slices

With limitless supplies

Of bakelite black pips

True - great snapshot of a radically different environment.
