Divorce 2

I dreamt you pushed me down and kissed me,
As you did so many times before.

And then I thought this is love, but why did love hurt and confuse me,

And why was I always hiding my voice.

I stopped dreaming because I was too focused on the weight of your emotions.

Now I see a future self who is free of that responsibility - to make another person whole.

I just wanna enhance someone's life, I don't wanna be in control of their birdcage.

Because one by one I let the birds go,

And the empty cage became massive barrier between us.

Forcing me to navigate the volumious expanse of distance and disappointment.

The end became a new beginning when I realized I could stop crying over you.

I could stop working so hard and just be me, not us, not we, just me.

Fully appreciated as she is, embraced and loved for the individual me.

Clarity is pulling back the curtains from your eyes and seeing a future through the tears.

Freedom Is falling forward without you.
