The fluff and the dust in my pocket
The fluff and the dust in my pocket.
A receipt for coffee for two.
I don't remember buying.
A memory that's been
Folded so many times.
The creases have become part of it.
Tobacco crumbs and filters.
The white lid of an orange bottle,
Carelessly forgotten.
A coin that I keep.
The one that you gave me.
The one I never spend.
A half-smoked stale spliff.
Saved for another day
That never came.
And the years gather dust,
On this unworn jacket,
That I can't throw away.

Lovely details in this, Tim. A fine poem.
