Night terrors
Some nights it's god like to be sober...
to see the moon without a face,
to close the day and see it over...
to welcome sleep and waking place.
To rest one’s head and ease tired feet,
to dream of home untouched by war...
to gaze and see the sky complete,
and know there's naught worth fighting for.
Some nights I now do less than sleep,
imbibed or not I drift awake...
for it's in my dreams my mind does keep
the horrors I cannot forsake.

Thank you David, painful reading.
...I, who am prone to whinge sometimes about my lot in life, need to remember that "there but for the grace of God go I".
