Nocturne

Blooming and unfolding will not be seen

Through gloomy forests now long gone

Though you’ve said your eyes are dimmed, fare forward.

The muse gets disinclined for what has been

But takes to…caterpillars on

self-same colour leaves, cheerleading “Forward!”.

There comes a time a wave will recede

with no more rush than ever was

And about-face is loudly called “Onward”

And from that time this insight: none need plead

For arthritis-free hands because

Music once played moves for ever onward.

If music be the food of love, play on!
