UNDER THE FIG TREE

entry picture

High hopes as the high skies.

Do I have anything to reap

a fruit to taste

as I sit in the shade of a fig tree?

I wonder.

Do I have anything to gain

a sight to see

beyond the lilies

and the cold lake

into the gleaming forest across?

I wonder.

If I sleep here tonight

who will miss me?

who will make my very thoughts their own?

who will shun me?

Come now.

Don't shy away from your truth.

I love that you saw it that way Uilleam. To me the cold lake sits somewhere between invitation and hesitation.

That cold lake sounds inviting.
