He cuts enough to keep it neat

knows every garden in the street

 

He has the keys to every door

knows all the codes and plenty more

 

He often swims in midnight pools

knows all the kids and all their schools

 

He likes the white-boned gleaming moon

knows he must feed the monster soon

 

He bears the scars of others hate

knows vengeance is an empty State

 

He feels he wasn't born to kill

yet something in him needs to still...
