The two of us caught in the headlights of our own lives

A stop and go moment with nobody else around

No demands

No agenda

No, we must be there by or else

No what time is it

Except to catch a bus

But a bus to where

Nobody knew except us or did we

There was no great master plan

Well except there is but nobody else is telling

Least of all him upstairs

There’s no trying to keep buoyant

No more targets spread sheets goals visions

Or statements of intent

No more policies no company codes of dress behaviour

Or social response

No more e mails

No more requests to take time off for holidays

Babies or being on the sick

No more awkward questions about spending too much time

On a fag break even though you don’t smoke

There is just you and me

And time to do just what we please

Really?

I don’t know

If there is one I haven’t found it yet

Well there’s more time for hospital appointments

Knees back and insomnia are all still present

 check

But they have always been there that’s not a catch
