May’s Poem of the Month, ‘Have a brew’, is one of a number of excellent poems that Write Out Loud newcomer Matthew Heslop posted on the site last month. Here’s a taste of Matthew’s style: “You see, ten little minutes with a mug in your hand, / Can do more than any psychologist planned. / It shifts all the clouds from a Mancunian sky, / And gives you the strength to just get yourself by.” His profile page tells us that he is “not a poet”. We’ll be the judge of that, Matthew!
