Taking the heat
He had cut is life into neat little pieces
To protect himself from the heat
The rain and storms he had to ride
Through all the summers and winters of his life
All the stones thrown that had fallen at his feet
Supporting a rickety creaking wall
Until she walked into his life
That gentle act of chaos that broke down all he had created
In order to manage the hours and seconds
He had to negotiate every minute of everyday
He couldn’t find the answer
To the ground shaking underneath his feet
He had tried to deny that he didn’t need the Lego house he had built
All the bricks of exact and equal matching colours
She told him it was O.K. she just wanted to understand
To know to share in the order you have made
From door to door and through the other side
Let me sit beside you and hide with you behind your shield
So that we can together step away from the
Melancholy and the drama
The clowns in wolves clothing
Trying to destroy and defeat all of the no’s that you and I may say
The nodding wish you well knowing nothing smiling telling you it’s all O.K.
But with no idea ones who want to help
Please let me stay I will be quiet
Because like you I can no longer take the heat
But together we can face the world
That is not ours but theirs

Thanks for your comments Red. An interesting perspective. It is actually about a guy who is on the spectrum and therefore views the world in a very specific way and a girl who wants to understand and be a part of his world.
