Thoughts of a Hopeless Romantic
My dearest,
Your laugh is like rain,
It soaks me, drowns me,
Until I can breathe no more.
Your smile is so bright,
It could power cities,
It blinds me, until everything else is night,
And you are the only sun I have ever known.
Your voice; so gentle, so serene,
As soft as feather-light touches
Skittering across my skin.
And your eyes, oh your eyes,
Your dark, warm, velvet eyes,
Enough to make me abandon all conscious thought,
Enough to make my knees buckle, my heart stutter,
My love, they are both my undoing and my salvation.
And I will never have the joy of cherishing you up close,
Since that is somebody else’s job,
But I am too selfish not to admire you from afar,
For you were crafted by divinity itself,
And would I truly be a devotee,
If I fail to worship all that is sacred?
