Riga Tanker Driver
Riga Tanker Driver
Riga was listening to classic rock while driving a petrol tanker. It was a marvel of engineering. Many of the systems were automatic except the small driver! The unit was a multi-hundred horsepower efficient and capable of good cruising speeds on the motorways. The lorry and driver were part of a supply train. It was essential to deliver the fuel on time so drivers, the customers, were able to fill up their tanks. The system had been worked out over the decades. Only certain type drivers were hired to drive the million-pound tankers. They had a ‘can do attitude’ and got the job done. Driving wasn’t an easy career with long miles long hours and often challenging conditions. Weather could change quickly from a sunny day to torrential rain with low visibility. Riga had several years’ experience of driving heavy vehicles. This included coast to coast trips in the USA and also her native Bangladesh. Now she was in the UK driving for a well-known petrol garage. The pay was good as were the benefits. Riga loved driving more than sex or music! How many people could say they lived for their work? She was one. There was something about trucks, about diesel engines, about the tanker trailers themselves. Something both magical and mechanical. The small girl simply adored them. She understood mechanical laws. An engine or gearbox operated a certain way within certain parameters. It could not and would not do something it wasn’t capable of. Unlike unpredictable people. This was why Riga enjoyed heavy vehicles and machinery. It was both cool and fascinating. Yes, it could be dangerous but if you were professional and respected the vehicle it would take care of you. She did this now on her delivery trip to an English coastal town. Her fuel delivery kept the place going. She knew the importance of that and her work and it humbled her. No fuel delivery then no transport for the locals. It was that simple. Riga the tanker driver. A dedicated hardworking person working 24/7 to deliver the fuel that was the lifeblood of any nation. Most people ignored these hard working professionals and were annoyed at the big trucks taking up the road. Little did they know the importance of such people or what they did.
