TEXTING ON THE TELEPHONE
(With huge apologies to Debbie Harry and Blondie)
I took my girlfriend out on our first date
We said we'd meet in town at 10 to 8
She looked so lovely there I could see
She'd got her head down and didn't greet me
She was texting on her mobile phone
Texting on her mobile phone.
She seemed distracted later when we ate
She kept her smart phone open by her plate
When every now and then it warbles and hums
She's quickly on it with her nimble thumbs
She cant control herself
No she cant control herself
She was texting on her mobile phone *2
She'd look at it and she would sometimes laugh
I thought that this was quite a social gaffe
I'd made an effort in my fashion ware
She didn't seem to notice I was there
She was texting on her mobile phone *2
She gets a text alert and then she sends
She has five hundred and one facebook friends
Some of these she says she even knows
She looks up to take a selfie pose
She cant control herself
She was texting on her mobile phone *2
But the date went well it must be said
We ended up at my place in my bed
I didn't mind while I was up her crack
That she was texting still behind my back
She cant control herself
She was texting on her mobile phone *2

You’re so right, Uilleam. It will soon deserve the moniker of “syndrome” or “disorder” and be treatable on the NHS, consuming the stress of a generation of millennials.
