Poetry and Pavlova to mark International Women's Day
The Booming Lovelies – from left, Sharron Green, Trisha Broomfield, and Heather Moulson - describe themselves as “ladies of a certain age, unafraid to share their wealth of life experience with anyone brave enough to listen and curious to hear .… verses on everything from nostalgia for the last century to lost loves, the menopause, gin, and the joys and complexities of modern life”.
They will be appearing at Poetry and Pavlova at Billingshurst Women's Hall in West Sussex on 8 March in celebration of International Women's Day. It’s an afternoon performance from 3pm to 5pm with open mic to raise funds for the Shelley Memorial Project. Tickets are £15, with tea/coffee and plentiful Pavlova. More details
Meanwhile there's an International Women's Day Poetry Showcase at Manchester's Castlefield Viaduct on Sunday 8 March from 2 - 4.30 pm when women poets from Cultureword's Identity Live! collective share their work. The bill includes Lydia Williams, Dada Zubeda, Shakeema Edwards, Ameerah Ali, Hana Elmarakbi, Clare Ramsaran, and Sumithreyi Sivapalan. There's also a Poetry Walk led by Ella Otomewo. More details
