HEADS UP

Suddenly they rise!

Nature’s toy soldiers,

Standing proud!

First legions to march

Under the woodland shroud!

Virgin white heads,

Staunch on pencil stems,

Gems of excellence

In rich green array;

Troops of Springs’ army

Across Winters’ decay.

Dark leaves outshone

By luminous new life....

The Snowdrops,

Springs’ battalion display!!!

They are always an inspiration, so fragile yet so resourceful. Nicely written piece. G
