My Fort.

entry picture

They took it away
My childhood fort
They broke it into pieces and spun out of the driveway
They'll reassemble it
But it won't ever be the same
Because it's no longer mine
And the magic is gone
There is a gaping hole where my childhood once stood
Where hot summers were spent stargazing
And where I played with James
Where I ran when my heart first broke
They don't even know what it means to me
How sad
I smile and say take care
Like an adult
Then I watch it go
Trailing down the road to some unfamiliar home
I wave goodbye
They wave back
But I was never waving to them.
