To The Root

I used to see

Through the entwinement

Of confined meaning

I used to hope with every fiber of my being

I used to believe that the world was looking out for me

If I remove my mask

You will see all the scars of broken promises

All the hope that died

All the blood, sweat, and tears

That has quinched the Earth

Am I the sacrifice to a brighter tomorrow

Or is my life only a part of the machine of death

Will I feel peace when my soul is exalted from this flesh

We are God's servants

And slave to no man
