January 14: Logic Day, Feast of the Ass
Father, Son, and Donkey
A father, son, and donkey rode to town,
and someone cried, The boy should ride! And so
he did. A neighbor, watching with a frown,
exclaimed, That lazy boy! "They seem to know
what's best," the father thought, and so he rode
instead. How selfish! someone said, so both
commenced to ride, but now the heavy load
upon the donkey drew a curse, an oath
of donkey rights. So now the dad and son
prepared a carrier from sticks and rope.
With donkey on their shoulders, everyone
began to laugh: the couple had to cope
with endless waves of rightful mockery,
for this display was quite a sight to see.
