Compass

entry picture

It would be nice to have one,

To distinguish right from wrong

According to the needle.

It would be nice to have one.

Most of us do, more or less;

It helps us pick a wrong’un,

To get behind the decent,

Cheering for the worthy side.

Some, of course, have long lost theirs,

Or never had one at all.

Attracted to the baddies,

They have no place to shelter

When the lightbulb starts to flash,

As one day it surely will;

They’ll squirm around, seeking help

Knowing full well none will come.

The moral compass implies having morals, something I fear is not the case for too many.

Thank you, Graham. 'No shame' seems to be the watchword everywhere at the moment.
And thanks to all of you who liked this.

No compass. No direction. No shame.
