A Christmas Past
Oh, Christmas joy, where did you go?
I lost that feeling long ago!
Those magical nights of rosy glows
Where Jack frost nibbled at ya toes
The wide-eyed wonder, of wondrous things
Locked in a box where no bell rings
I wonder where, the wonder went
To sing away my heart's lament
I smile In dreams
Of Christmas past.
That rosy glow we thought
would last.
A sprinkle of wonder
In wide-eyed bliss.
Mistletoe hanging for a virgin kiss.
We believed in magic
For a little while.
Such sights & sounds sent to
beguile.
If only we'd kept them in a little box,
to open
when age
Tick tock, tick tocks
But, somewhere, a child is lost inside
Unable to shake that childish pride
It longs to sing & dance & sway
But always turns the other way
Yet, there's the tree, in front of me
A reminder of who I used to be
The star, it shines…it shines like joy
Inside, there stirs that little boy
I feel the snow
I feel the cold
A feel the age of tales untold
I feel the magic
The lanterns glow
The place where lonely childhood's go
I feel the child inside of me
Christmas, how it used to be
Oh, Take me back to days of old
Where magic lay in my mother's hold
I smile In dreams
Of Christmas past.
That rosy glow we thought
would last.
A sprinkle of wonder
In wide-eyed bliss.
Mistletoe hanging for a virgin kiss.
We believed in magic
For a little while.
Such sights & sounds sent to
beguile.
If only we'd kept them in a little box,
to open
when age
Tick tock, tick tocks
