A babe is born
Come and listen to that which I have to tell
Draw closer that I may not lose my breath
As I recall a tale of great joy of a boy king
A son of man
Quite an ordinary boy
Who does not surround himself
With elves’ goblins unicorns or dragons
No men in coloured costumes
Nor old men in red coats and long white beards
For this is a tale in a far -off land
Of many moons ago
When a boy is born to a virgin fair
Whisked away when she is heavy with child
Far away from a jealous king who wishes to kill the boy
A star is seen in the east the like of which has never before been seen
A signal for those to follow who would come and bow
Before the baby king
Born in humble origins in a stable behind an inn
Three kings come and bring gifts of great wealth
Gold Frankincense and myrrh
His only subjects the animals of the field until such time
That he will reach his majority
And he will save the fallen world from
All that has fallen
So, remember good gentle folk
This day this boy this man
Not with tinsel and fairy dust
But forever known as he who saved the world
