December 2025 Collage Poem: A Knock on the Window

entry picture

A love surpassing limits and legends

Encircled to read with goodies and poetry,

unaware of the glare in broken window,

Taps his toes at Christmas Time

watching the reindeer stagger around the garden

            drunk on mullen wine

Listen to the toe tapping grim Poetry

Woodpeckers now have all flown

In the darkness of jazz we have found our place,

FRAYED IN HUMAN HOPE

SHADOWS OF A DIFFERENT DARKNESS

Untouched man: unsurpassed love: unfolded words

Behind the rhythm of the knock lays the withering expectation

WHY DID YOU TIP ME OUT OF MY PRAM, MUM?

The woodpecker tap, tap, taps

            too early every morning

through a glass darkly

why won’t it fly back to the forest

and leave me in morning peace?

The bony hands of the stolen

            mannequin catch the child as

he flies from his pram

A thousand woodpeckers

their gums bleeding look through the

windows, envy the china dogs

            and the woollen owls.

Words Keep Knocking

Tap tap tap
Window is opened
Poets respond inside
Carefully catching ideas
Holding them close
Selecting what matters
Poetic creative minds
Writing down lines
Christmas list completed
A Collage feast
Ingredients fully prepared
Now all ready - - -

But so is
Warm mince pies
Full blooded wine
Various chocolate treats

Both enjoyed together.
