Prayer of Departure
Dear Lord of mercy and order,
You who shaped the constellations
and placed every heart upon its rightful path—
hear me.
You have destined me a man,
steady as an oak,
a harbor built for my future.
In him, I find peace,
honor, and the promise of a home.
But another soul tempted my spirit—
a lightning in the dark,
a soul I touched only in passing.
Not mine to keep,
not mine to cradle in this lifetime.
Take from my chest the fire
that burns where it should not.
Bind the wandering pulse,
seal the unworthy longing,
teach my heart to kneel before duty.
Let the wind carry him away from me,
not in anger,
but in acceptance—
as leaves fall in autumn,
no longer needed by the tree.
Bless him,
but do not tether my destiny to his shadow.
Guard my steps
toward the man who stands in the sunlight,
the one You wrote into my fate.
I surrender this forbidden ache.
I choose the life You prepared,
the crown of peace over the crown of ruin.
Amen.
