Peace Deal
They say that we should get in shape
And learn to take it on the chin,
Stiffen our sinews, grit our teeth;
‘Believe it, brothers, you can’t win’.
They say there is no difference
Between righteousness and sin;
‘It could just be that might is right’,
They tell you with their trademark grin.
They say we have our work cut out
Just to protect our kith and kin;
Support for us is withering,
As promises land in the bin.
They say we’ll get no further help ,
So we should sign and save our skin;
For, when our friends have gone, they add,
It makes most sense if we give in.
