Into The Woods
Dip your phone in boiling oil
Set fire to the Internet
Walk to the edge of town
That boundary
Of grey and green
Take no headphones
No books
No camera
Let the Autumn air fill your lungs
Go deep into the woods
Talk to the squirrels
Study branches
Search for hidden meaning
In a cloud-splattered sky
You need to be
Bored awhile...
Turn off the news
Push the paper
Back through the letterbox
Rejoice its thud
Out on the doorstep
Let that soap opera rumble on
Now you can move looser
Break free from the churn
Of old waves
Of poisonous patterns
Close the book
Burn this page
Dream up poems while you walk
Let them vanish
Into your mind
You need to be
Bored awhile...
I can see it in your eyes
And in the way
You don’t ask why
Find perspective by a reservoir
Ratchet down the spring
Uncoil your loaded soul
You need to be
Bored awhile...

I love the flow of this Tom. "The way you don’t ask why" that's the key but, unfortunately, for me, I cannot help myself. Why? I dunno but I certainly agree that mother nature is never boring - even a well mowed-manicured lawn has its own store of secrets.
