The Liverpool Blitz 1941 (7 Days In May)

entry picture

Bertie holds a red poppy in his beak.
Tears roll down his feathered cheek.
Today is 11/11…Remembrance Day.
Bertie recalls, 1941...7 days in May.
Over Liverpool City, bombs did rain.
Bertie remembers the horror and pain.
As the ‘May Blitz’, that week was known.
Families cowering in shelters or home.
Heart breaking memories never fade.
As Bertie looks on as wreaths are laid.
To those who fell, we remember them all.
As silence hangs over St George’s Hall.

It's hard to imagine the horror and so tragic that people are still experiencing it, especially in Ukraine. Thank you for this, Mike.
