The Mother Land
The Mother Land
Remembrance Sunday Dawns
as one people we all mourn
An island nation under siege
they came from afar to their liege
As a beacon of hope for many
we faced both trial and enemy
We fought and served together
and remained strong whatever
We knew what we fought for
a nation which upheld the rule of law
A place of refuge for the free
a land blessed to be
They came from north, south
east and west to fight
Wearing turbans, kilts
and the like
A collection of many nations
origins and colours to their station
We fought side by side
to hold back the virulent tide
We were the best to be found
on England's green and pleasant land
They came by land, sea and air
as if to some great open fair
England is the home of many
a fortress of decency against many an enemy
Our pride is in who we are
even if we come for afar
