Letters Never Sent - #DrabbleWrimo2025
Nancy pondered how life might have differed, had she posted her words.
Wartime Britain. Her beloved Edgar conscripted to fight the Nazi threat. She, with child.
As bombs rained over London, September 1940, Nancy huddled in the dark of an underground tunnel.
Cold, damp, and sheltered from the devastation above, she wrote.
Tears hit the paper like unending mortar strikes as she poured her heart onto the page, hoping one day to be reunited.
The Blitz raged. Cries echoed.
Devastation had ravaged London.
Still, she wrote.
Still, she waited.
Her letters, never stamped, never sent, clutched tight in trembling hands.
